hi there.

i don't know the answer to your question, having just joined this
list.  (i think tripwire and the like run on any sort of unix system,
but they just do integrity checking, not intruder detection).

without the isolation of firewalls you have exactly this problem,
a crossproduct of heterogeneous systems that need protection.

(are you worried about internal intrusions?)

by the way, are you aware of the firewall i constructed for the ITU a
few months ago (starting with the tis fwtk)?  (all ported to dec alpha
for them, but i usually put these things together on suns...)
