By way of introduction, my name is Jeb Weisman. I am Sr. Systems
Administrator and Security Officer for Pacific University. I am also an
anthropologist, specializing in how the lay-public integrate advanced
technology information systems into their world view. To that end I
teach courses about, "Computers, Culture, and Society."

The three criteria noted by Capt. Ziese mirror my reasons for being here.
The University for which I work caters to a non-tech student body and
faculty. For this reason I was recruited. Likewise, for this reason I
have limited staff at my disposal and no student talent upon which to
rely. This leaves me in the position of chief cook and bottle washer in
the security management arena. Enviable in some ways, but also lacking
peers who understand the issues, can provide appropriate information and
clarification, and lacking the coordinated organization required in the
case of intrusion or similar attacks. To a degree, I rely on a list such
as this to fill in some of the gaps.
