What is the state of the art?

Hi,

        I find myself working on a project tasked with determining the state
of the art in Intrusion Detection (ID). Step one is to determine what
exists. Step two is to determine the current directions ID. Step three is to
determine what needs to be addressed  that is not being addressed.

        I have followed this list since its' inception and have always found
it a good source of information. Also, the information I wish to gather is
the same information that many others on the list are asking for.

        Any information you can share will be gladdly appreciated. It can be
posted to the list or e:mailed to me directly.

        As I procede with my search, I will be posting (some not all of)
what I find to this list. If you would like to join in the activity by
posting to the list, please do. I think we can all benefit from the exercise.
