I agree with Der Spaff... Look at Clipper. Very few people trust the gizmo (I use Clipper as a generic descriptor for the whole magilla) or the algorithm because of two reasons - the people designing it and the secrecy of the algorithm. Now look at PGP (fighting words!) and the availability of the source code to the public. When more then a few 'select' experts can examine the code, a more collective evaluation is reached...more objective, more detailed, and more believable. I don't discredit the government, they have their reasons for nondisclosure, and can understand their concern. But, as Joe Citizen I want to know that my faith in an encryption package has been tested by more than those on the GS payscale. Is it Kix ceral that has the saying "Kid Tested Mother Approved?" If yes, I'd change it to: "Community tested, Community Approved". My $.02 and worth every dollar. Flames will be read and sumararily sent to /dev/null.
