Hello! I'm new here, so as requested by the list owner, here's my introduction. I'm the sysop for the admin. computing system at Flathead Valley Community College (located in the northwest corner of Montana, USA, FWIW) and the de facto security officer. My background is in Unix and MS-DOS systems with a smattering of Netware. I'm very interested in finding ways to improve security, esp. in the areas of preventing successful attacks, logging unsuccessful attacks, and in the worst cases, logging details of successful attacks. Right now our systems are not directly connected to the Internet, but that is likely to change in the near future, so security is becoming even more important than before. I found out about this list from a post by Patrick Horgan to the firewalls@GreatCircle.com mailing list. /--------------------------------------------------------\ | All opinions are personal unless stated otherwise. | |--------------------------------------------------------| | Rick Owens, Computer Op.
