I'm a sophmore in computer science at Purdue University. I became
interested in IDS during the COAST seminars that Spafford holds weekly. I
find the idea of Autonomous Agents, Mark Crosby's work, to be extremely
interesting. Lately I've been reading about Fuzzy Logic and their
integration with nueral nets. 

A user profile has been incorperated into many of the systems I've seen so
far. My question is how often should this profile be updated? If it is
never brought up to date false positives are almost assured as your user
and system become more advanced. And of course, updating too often would
defeat its purpose.
