The topics of Introductions and Auto Replying has often been discussed on the list, which is not appropriate. Concern about such issues should be directed to the list owner <ids-owner@uow.edu.au>. Introductions: They are often interesting to read and often lead to closer contact between list subscribers. While it probably wouldn't hurt to mention in the ids info (sent when joining) to ask users to use ``Introduction'' in the subject. However, as most often occurs asking subscribers to perform some particular action/activity usually results in them NOT (Maybe Murphies Laws explain this bizzare behaviour ?). Auto-Replies: (Reply-to: fields) This feature is *highlighted* in the ids introductory information. The fact is that most often mail will be directed back to the list (also having the reply to saves the original author from recieving 2 copies as would typically reply to the author and cc: to the list). This feature has both supporters and detractors. Think how boring life would be if we all agreed on the same way of doing things, so think of this as keeping your life interesting (also keeps you thinking so remember dont blindly reply to mail.)
