Colleagues,

I also just joined this list.  CWA is a R&D consulting business, doing 
engineering projects for various clients.  I'm the resident expert on 
things related to the Internet, because I'm the one who pushed to get 
us connected.  Otherwise, I'm a mild-mannered senior software engineer 
with a "day job" full of things to do (mostly real-time systems, UNIX 
applications, and for a lot of money, DOS/Windows stuff).

Because our clients need to be assured that their sources and strategic 
plans and, in some cases, prototype products are safe on our network, I 
put intrusion detection tools high on my list of things that need to be
in place and working before I can hand over day-to-day security worries
to our solitary, overworked sysadmin.
