When joining the list I ask you to breifly introduce yourself, to give
an outline of your interest in intrusion detection systems. Whether
you are developing an intrusion detection system, or a system
administrator or student who is currently investigating or developing
a system. Additionally you might want to express some personal ideas
that you have about what you think an intrusion detection system
ideally, should be.
I submitt the following:
My name is Dale Drew. I am the Manager of the internetMCI Security Department.
I am responsible for the Engineering of security solutions for all elements,
products and services for the internetMCI platform, including the backbone
equipment, Electronic Mall services, Dial-in users, and direct connect
customers.
I've written exposure analysis, intrusion detection programs and other
early warning detection systems for the protection of all the above referenced
elements. I am working on some advanced intrusion detection and trend analysis
software for the protection of the internetMCI network(s).
I have been involved in computer crime investigations for over 7.5 years,
conducting over 2,000 computer investigations, during my employment with MCI,
The Arizona Attorney Generals Office and the US Secret Service.
The purpose of joining the list is to identify areas in which I can improve
my intrusion detection capability, as well as providing a resource for feedback
to other IDS members on intrusion detection solutions.
