I am a member of NASA's Mission Operations Directorate's (MOD), AIS Security Engineering Team (ASET). I am also a system admin for several SUN, Linux & BSD (also Novell & NT AS systems) systems. I've written risk analysis for networks & internetworks. I currently provide NASA/MOD with consulting services and investigative reviews of incidents at the Johnson Space Center, Houston. I'm always looking for new tricks & techniques that I can either provide in person to MOD Management, or post on our homepages which is running on a SparcStation 10 (http://aset.rsoc.rockwell.com). At NASA, we are very concerned about the security of computer systems, espcially those related to flight (both ascent & descent) software production. I am worried about terrorist activity in the future, when the world may be connected to Space Station to run experiments. I have to tell you, it scares the hell out of me. How do we keep these systems accessible to colleges & universities, and other governments, while protecting the systems & spacecraft from harm caused either from mailicious software, or denial of service attacks? The faster NASA sysadmins can detect an intruder, the safer the crew is. Any info is much appreciated. As always, you may contact me either via phone (Houston time) 8:00 to 5:00, 713-282-3516; or email at "morrison@killerbee.jsc.nasa.gov". ____________________________________________________________________ / Something happened in the Quantum Well, | NASA MOD AIS Security \ | An electron escaped & nearly fell | Engineering Team | | Up, it went, partway & stopped, | --==8==-- | | It froze & blinked - outside it popped! | Work : 713-282-3516 | |-----------------------------------------| FAX : 713-282-2948 | | morrison@killerbee.jsc.nasa.gov | Internet = Home | | INTERNET = Work | jmorriso@hti.net | \_________________________________________|__________________________/
